Finally joined the Wiki!

I've dabbled with UScript since Unreal, but only really got into it with UT2003.

I suppose there's not much point having this page unless I put stuff on it, so here goes:

Unreal

It all started with mapping for Unreal. Here's a quick list of Unreal maps I made, which may still be around somewhere:

UT2003

Maps

Did more mapping when UT2003 appeared, but decided to give it up because it requires modelling/skinning skills which I don't have.

[DM-Serenity] The first one, made just as an experiment.
[CTF-BrokenGorge] Made using fractals. Quite successful actually.
[BR-BrokenGorge] BR version, because I like BR.

Mods/Mutators

Realizing that mapping is now too much like hard work, I put my meagre programming ability to use and put some effort into learning UScript properly, and it's turned out quite well (I get several thousand downloads of my mods per month from my site alone, and thousands more from places like UT2003HQ, and of course I enjoy making this stuff).. Anyway, here's a list:

[Boots of Jumping] The first bit of UT2003 scripting I did. Made so that mappers can make more authentic remakes of Unreal/UT maps.
[Trigger Flags] More stuff for mappers, to allow stuff to be triggered when the flag is taken/returned (made on request).
[Nali Bricks] Breakout clone!
[Gibalicious] Increases gore to sickening levels (made on request).
[Radiation Poisoning] Redemmer Arena (made on request).
[Aerial View] A combination of three previous mutators, giving players the ability to fly with a pair of wings, a proper 3rd person view and a jump arena (gives everyone the jump boots listed above).
[Weapons of Evil] A complete weapon replacement mod, plus the Sentinel automatic cannon. I made a weapon early on, and enjoyed it so much I made ten more.

Other stuff

[LawDogs] I'm a coder for this mod.

Mosquito: seems like you're becoming the Angelheart of coding. :D

Foxpaw: I read the readme on your map CTF-BrokenGorge and it asked for feedback, so I thought I'd post some here. I thought it was pretty good, I'm quite a fan of "terrain maps" even though a lot of people bash them. All around I like it but if you would like me to nitpick there was two things that kind of bugged me:

  • The start points all (or at least most) faced you toward the link gun near your base, then you have to turn to go toward your base. I felt that the "flow" of the map wanted to carry me forward after picking up the link gun instead of turning and I often ended up running into the dead end there.
  • Sometimes I had a hard time finding my way around, and I'd just stumble around in the jungle for ages without seeing a base, friendly or the enemies. I think I was going around in circles.
